Truth The Barber Artist

Bio

Truth Quinones “Truth The Barber Artist” was born in New York, Polyclinic Hospital in 1975, where he evolved into a skilled Barber/Tattoo artist. He dominated art competitions as a teenager in high school and was captain of the handball team. He also ran cross country in track. He was mentored by his Grandmother and begun learning the trade of Barbering at the age of 12. Within 10 years time, his exceptional artistic talent won him his first freestyle design Barber Battle win. Truth attended Oneonta Job Corps and was commended for his tireless artistic effort by receiving the center wide student of the month and dorm student of the month awards for his portrait paintings representing each dorm. Truth was also elected dorm president by his fellow dorm mates in Job Corps. He won election again for a second term before he completed his educational programs. In 2009 Truth  competed in his first IHS (International Hair Show) Barber Battle in which he also placed in the top three. His skills truly flourished when he acquired his first position as a Barber instructor at The American Barber Institute in Ny, Ny. As an instructor at ABI, Truth successfully attempted the amazing feat of cutting two skin fades at the same time ambidextrously. He also became a barbershop owner and State board examiner in which he conducted the practical exam for the NY State department of licensing. He also helped update the New York State practical master barbers exam. In addition to receiving several Barber Battle awards, Truth was presented in 2011 with the honor of being head teacher at the Amercian Barber Institute. 

Truth tattooed as a hobby in his spare time under encouragement from his friends who admired his artistic talents. From there Truth gained the nick name “The Barber Artist”. He wanted to expand his capabilities and use his art, haircuting abilities, and sense of humor to reinvent himself into more of a public figure. He made history as the first Barber Instructor in New York to dedicate his entire social media presence to being a sketch comedy personality. He has been featured in comedy skits with other popular Instagram sensations such as Joselito The Puppet and Daniel Jean The Driver. Truth has continued to perfectly blend teaching at the Barber School and consistently create funny sketch comedy content. Truth’s funny videos have been reposted by Worldstar Hip Hop multiple times and his hair designs have been reposted by several popular barber pages such as “Barbershop Connect” Truth has given haircuts to celebrities such as Jay Hieron (UFC), Lil’ Fame (M.O.P), Crissa Ace (Harlem Globetrotters), Quentin Homes, Richie Palacios (Cleveland Indians) and Josh Palacios (Toronto Blue Jays)

His relentless desire to perform and entertain his followers has led to the opportunity of being featured on “It’s Queens Magazine” as one of the top 5 Barbers in Queens. Truth has also been on several podcasts. Truth has managed to accumulate over 120,000 followers on Instagram and 56,000 followers on TikTok.

Truth also helps his graduating students find employment and provides guidance and support long after graduation. He also supports and helps encourage donations for the children at St Jude Hospital.

Truth’s continued dedication to excellence overflows into his work on camera. Truth continues to be an inspiration to his students and Barbers around the world. He believes in supporting other professionals in the same industry so that everyone can grow together.  Despite his new found popularity Truth “The Barber Artist” remains a humble, respected and modivational teacher. Truth hopes that through acting and comedy he can continue to help charities and the less fortunate. Truth also dreams of starting new programs to help the homeless and troubled kids. He hopes that one day his accomplishments may serve as an example to others.
